Blowin' In The Wind, Traditional?

[edit]

If in case the melody of "Blowin' In The Wind" is based on "No More Auction Block", shouldn't the written-by-section say "Traditional, Bob Dylan" instead of just mentioning Bob Dylan? Best regards, --31.19.210.181 (talk) 09:38, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't just "Blowin' in the Wind". You can go through this album song by song and discover that nearly every song derives its music or much of its lyric or both from a pre-existing song, and "Blowin' in the Wind" is far from the most flagrant example. The article's songwriting credits reflect the album's credits, it would seem, and Zimmerman throughout his career (as well as long before his career began) was an habitual plagiarist. Just because the album cites "Dylan" as sole author, however, it doesn't seem to me that the Wikipedia article should have to also, which is to say that I agree with you. Outtakes

[edit]

Is The Freewheelin' Outtakes album an official release? It should be stated if it isn't. Spacecrunchies (talk) 07:07, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find any evidence that it even exists! Nor "Resurfaced Records". What is the source for this? Unlike the other releases, data is vague on takes used, as well. This should be sourced or deleted. Sojambi Pinola (talk) 15:14, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Those references were all added in this anonymous edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Freewheelin%27_Bob_Dylan&oldid=996651225
There is no sourcing for them.
I did find a grey market label called "Resurfaced Records", which seems to put out public domain material on various hi res download sites. I can find no Dylan release, so it was probably pulled. There are plenty of other "Freewheelin' outtakes" releases on European public domain labels even prior to 2018. I'm not sure why this one was singled out. It should be revised or removed.
